Since 1796, when outgoing president George Washington expressed opposition to extra-continental control over the territories of the Western Hemisphere, the United States of America has used a type of Manifest Destiny over all of the Americas. The No-Transfer Resolution of 1811 reflected concern that Spain might transfer Florida to Great Britain in stating that the United States "...cannot, without serious inquietude, see any part of said territory pass into the hands of any foreign power." Taking this drive for possession of the New World even farther with the Monroe Doctrine, our quest to control not only the land but also the lives of all peoples across the continents of the Americas continues today with policies much more subversive than public doctrines. Regarding the U.S. prevention of a communist government coming to power in the Dominican Republic, Lyndon Johnson stated in 1965:

"I think it is a well-known and advertised doctrine of the Hemisphere that the principles of communism are incompatible with the principles of our inter-American system."

Hence we extend our duties to policing the hemisphere not just from physical foreign infiltration but also from ideologies that may come from any source other than the U.S. Before and since then, the United States has protected its interests with intervention in Cuba, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Chile, Bolivia, Brazil, and Haiti, all at the expense of indigenous peoples and democracy as most acts of securing stability in the region involved restoring power to dictators and fascists.

Now, the United States of America extends its concern for national security across the globe, tossing the term "terrorist" around like a racial slur. The Monroe Doctrine with its concerns being outdated 200 years ago is now a global policy under this guise of saving the world from fear and terror, when the real goals are securing military domination and corporate interests of the U.S.A. ? a fear that even more people will be willing to die to fight if the Bush administration continues building its nuclear arsenal while bullying its corporate muscle across the globe.

People of the United States of America, your and your nation's security is being threatened not by an external agenda, but by your own Commander in Chief. Please educate yourself on U.S. foreign policy and its internal supporters, and understand the ultimate goals. Allow yourself to question the motives of the policy makers and only then can you come to your own conclusion. And if your conclusions bring you into disagreement with the current administration of this country, exercise your most American ideal and speak out now.
