Sorry, it’s been a while. The pace has barely been manageable, so the blog was the first to suffer. What has happened since my last post?

Got a new Harper’s, with an editorial about Progressives needing to stop supporting gun control—in lieu of us actually needing them in the Jeffersonian sense one day—and a frightful feature revealing the Christian right’s new front: American history education, or as they prefer to call it, Christian heritage. Yikes.

Read a recent issue of Wired with the New Atheism cover story. Not a bad job, but an illogical ending. For the author to declare that being a scientific fundamentalist contradicts the democratic notion of allowing yourself to be proven wrong is opposite the rationale. Only the scientific process allows such skepticism. Religious fundamentalism cannot be tolerated, and even religious moderation is a naive concept, as at some point all arguments inclusive of its value system hit the brick wall of the improbable, the irrational, and the unproveable. Too bad for Wired.
